Don't know how much we'll get to see him, but Colt is supposed to play some tonight for the Cardinals (9 pm central, I think). NFL Network (and NBC, too, where I am). Football is back, thank goodness--even if it is preseason.

Atlanta plays at 6 pm central today, and Bijan currently is listed as the third running back on the first depth chart.

Colt is cut in favor of 5th round rookie--
""Tough," Gannon said of the decision to release McCoy. "Colt's awesome -- he's a true pro's pro, that's why he's played so long. Having gone through this process in a different seat a lot of times, it's a little bit different today because it's hard. You know that they care, they put a lot of sacrifice and hard work into their craft. Ultimately, I think if you're honest with them they appreciate that. They know that we're going to do what we have to do try and do what's best for the team. These are tough days.""

I read an article putting forth the idea that the Cardinals are positioning themselves to draft. Caleb Williams.
They're looking to lose some games this season.

He'll probably get added by someone as a spot backup or emergency option. If the McCowns can make it that long in the league, then Colt should be able to as well.

When it comes down to it, he has more seasons in the NFL (12) than wins (11). His 2.8% TD rate would put him right below David Carr if he had enough attempts. I'll never knock him for his maturity or leadership ability, but he really isn't what teams need in terms of production.

Not that wins are a QB stat anyway, but Kirk Cousins' first two "wins" in Washington were games he was pulled while trailing and Colt came in. . . .

2.5M guaranteed to spend the season on the couch and not get more concussions is a pretty nice parting gift. Colt will be just fine.

He has been in the league for 13 years. Hats off to him. He was a phenomenal college qb and should have won the heisman the year bradford got it. Still has a shot at a backup this year to continue getting paid.

If the Cardinals want to win games, they should have released Kyler and made Colt the starter.

I wouldn't mind Colt coming to the Texans. He's a better backup than Davis Mills.

If he doesn't have any other plans for right now, maybe he can run the video equipment in the Horns current quarterback room. You know, purely as a technical equipment guy, not to help with film study or technique or anything like that.

I've always said that, if the world was right, Colt would have had 2 NCs and a Heisman and gone down as the greatest UT QB ever. But the world ain't right.

Guy,

I can't believe Colt did anything to you that is so bad you would wish Houston on him. Yes, he is better than anything they have, but Brady or Unitas/Starr in their prime couldn't help that cluster. Has there ever been a more mismanaged franchise in any sport?

Their not looking to win games. They are in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes. Murray is on the PNP list so naturally you cut your #2 qb.

first thing i thought when i saw new england release two QBs. Colt's going to Boston. He better get some of those poncho outdoors flannel shirts

Edited for clarity...
