Anyone have any feedback regarding Colorado Springs?

Am going for a job interview on Thursday and was looking for feedback from people who have either lived there recently or have been there more than the three times I have.

Thanks.

I go there often for work. My BIL lives there as well. Seems like a nice town. However, it is way spread out. Traffic can be a mess as many main routes are under construction. Climate is a bit dry for me as it is really a desert. Anything west of Powers is pretty much treeless as you get out into the Plains. Skiing is not that close. Gas is a bit higher, and they run 85 octane as regular unleaded.

I lived there for four years a while ago as a high school kid. I am sure it has changed a lot but I really liked it. The winters are pretty mild. You will get blizzards but the next day will be sunny and 60s or 70s. The nice thing is you get four seasons.

Plenty of things to do around the local area, e.g, hiking, camping, etc., and you are not far from Denver. As for skiing, you can get to quite a few places like Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, etc. in about 2 to 3 hours. Not too bad really. I joined a ski club which chartered a bus Sunday morning and we were at the resort when it opened and back in C Springs by around 8pm. Also, with the AF Academy there, you can still take in some decent college sporting events. Along with football, college hockey was big there with AF and Colorado College.

I thought it was a nice place

I've been there a few times on business. I agree with the above poster regarding the weather. For Colorado, it's still manageable.

One thing that might interest or deter you, many religious organizations and churches are headquartered there. I don't have any specific insight, but it stands to reason the townspeople are generally conservative.
