Color printer, scanner, copier for cheap

Recently went with a Canon MP390 for an at-home all-in-one. I really dig it.

These home desktop printers and all-in-ones are just getting better and better. It's really hard to go wrong.

It's actually not that hard to go wrong. They are often pieces of **** that won't last more than 12 months. They ARE cheap so it's not a total tragedy when they crap out, but don't kid yourself. How about of show of hands for the ones that have lasted for a couple of years?

Have had a Dell A940 for over a year and an HP 750 for two or three. Both have been pretty good with no problems. Can I raise both hands?

Awesome. I've had a Panasonic, a Brother and 3 HP's. 4 of them went into the dumpster within a year of purchase. The latest HP is doing fine, but it's only about a month old. Pretty jaded, I've become.

just wait until you have to spend $50 on each of the two ink cart's.

$75 for the printer and $100 for ink. WTF?

I bought an HP copier/scanner/printer a few months ago. To say it's the lousiest photo printer I've ever encountered would not be an exaggeration. On the other hand, it's fine for just printing text files and making basic copies or B&W scans.

I suppose you really do get what you pay for.

With each store having 50 -75 models and none of them the same as the next store and none of the models lasting long enough to get any reviews, it's a clusterfuck to me. I just buy and hope to get a year out of them. My Panasonic laser, on the other hand, has lasted over 10 years.

If any of you have had problems with your HP in the first year, all you have to do is call tech support, tell them what the deal is, and they will send you a replacement... and you get to keep your old cartridges as well as receive new ones so it is definitely worth the 15-20 minutes you will spend on the phone. It is getting a little rediculous though that cartridges are costing more than the freaking printer. My new HP printer has four cartridges, all came with the printer. I found a refurbished one on sale for $100 (still has the 1-yr warranty) so it is crazy to think the cartridges if I had to replace all of them would cost me probably $130.
