They brought up the scenario that if pac 10 champ, sec champ and big 12 champ were all undefeated who would be in the bcs championship game. they figured it would be usc, oklahoma and not sure who out of the sec. Host said usc automatically and probably the sec winner because they won it last two years and ou sucks in bowl games.

I don' see how in the world usc would go in that scenario no matter who out of the big 12 and sec were undefeated. Obviously the pac 10 sucks and usc beat an overrated ohio state team. How do you put usc in over undefeated teams from the two toughest models? I guess just espn and there usc love affair.

Thoughts?

You need to consider how the team played in addition to the undefeated record.
I think the SEC is a bit better than the B12 and quite a bit better than the Pac10.
The onus is on USC to convincingly beat all the Pac10 teams they play because the undefeated B12 team and undefeated SEC team will be given more leniency for having to play much stronger competition. USC has Oregon (top 15) and ASU (barely top 25) at home. OU and UT have themselves, Tech, and Mizzou [OU misses Mizzou] (all top 10) and Kansas (top 20). UGA and UF have themselves, Auburn, Alabama, and LSU (all top 10 or top 15 teams). Plus, both the B12 and the SEC undefeateds have opportunities to further raise their stocks with a Conf. Championship game against another top 25 team.

People obviously would have to vote the SEC winner over the B12 winner. No way to tell right now who would be in the better position going into the first weekend of December.

I think the prospects of an undefeated Big XII and SEC team at the end of the season are pretty remote. That being said it could be a decision between one loss teams from each conference which is basically the same thing. I am not so sure USC makes it all of the way undefeated either.

How about BYU versus ECU in the BCS championship game ?
I think that is exactly what this farce called the BCS deserves.

Probably would be a better game than USC smoking OU again.

I predict the BCS failing yet another year, and lots of people bitching about the need for a playoff system in college football...just like every year that the BCS has existed.

I thought about this one last night. It would be very interesting. IMO, it should be the Big 12 and SEC. All things being comparitively even, the two conferences with the extra championship game should get the benefit of the doubt.

In a way, I kind of hope this scenario happens -- unless it involves Texas and we're getting screwed. What really would suck is Texas getting into the Big 12 Championship game and beating Mizzou a second time (hypothetical) because, if memory serves, you only get credit in the BCS rankings for beating an opponent once.

I know the odds of this happening are pretty nil. But I can't imagine the outcry if Texas lost out on a championship game appearance by a few hundredths of a point because we played Mizzou or KU twice.

if every team in the Pac-10 sucks and Ohio St is overrated, then is it fair to say Texas Tech and Kansas are overrated (or does overrated only apply to the ranked teams SC beats) and by the way which teams do Oklahoma skip this year? What about Texas? Last year Texas didn't play the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the vaunted Big 12 conference. Let's see....Oklahoma skips Missouri, that's convenient. And they skip crappy Iowa St. Texas skips both Nebraska and Iowa St. So you don't skip the good teams this year though you don't have to play a round robin conference schedule which is a lot easier. Pac-10 teams all play each other. Conference games are almost always tougher.

As for the SEC, let's see here...oh Florida doesn't play Auburn or Alabama. That must be nice. Aren't they two of the higher ranked SEC teams? Other than LSU and Georgia, who does Florida play that's any good? Florida St, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas? If those were Pac-10 teams you would all say they're overrated. If they're in the SEC, they must be worldbeaters. How about Georiga. There's a tough schedule. They only skip the Mississippi's which are both lousy. The same folks who say the Pac-10 sucks will give Georgia credit for playing ASU.

The only ranked opponent on the remaining schedule for USC is Oregon. They're at 17.

Soviet you do realize the Big 11 teams don't all play each other every year, right?

So how are you trying to say the Big XII teams have it easy compared to Pac 10 and Big 11 schools? They play more conference opponents than the Big XII? I don't think that argument holds much water as to who has a tougher road.

probably but not necessarily.

suppose missoura is upset by somebody in the Big 12 North, Kansas perhaps. If both Kansas and Mizzou finish 7-1 in conference, the Jayhawks go to the Big 12 title game. Oklahoma would miss out on a top 10 Mizzou.

PAC-10 Champ will have played 9 conference games.
BIG-XII Champ will have played 9 conference games, and the last of those games will NOT be a Baylor or Iowa State (or Stanford

).

I fail to see how a non-round robin schedule is easier.
