DJ was what? Just one year after Redding?

I might agree with saying "best defensive recruit since the Redding era", but I also remember Orakpo, Ossai, and a couple of others who shouldn't be dismissed out of hand.

Redding was '99 DJ was '01. The 3 guys you list were all great but not all that highly rated coming out of HS.

If you are talking about the d-line only, maybe. If you are talking defensive unit, Derrick Johnson and Earl Thomas may have something to say about that.

DJ was anywhere from the #5-#10 LB in the class of 2001, which was stacked in a big time year. Cory might have been the #1 overall recruit, not just #1 edge.

Earl wasn't even our best DB pull in 2007. Curtis Brown was rated the best DB in the nation. Andre Jones (RIP) was also more highly rated overall.

Well, if you're just talking about recruiting rankings, and not on field performance, OK. Point conceded. It's a worthless point, but conceded nonetheless.

Do we have the TEs to pull it off tho?
This is what keeps me up late at night. Maybe we can scheme to mask our deficiency in this area. We are lucky this is an early game and we can surprise them with our newly tooled offense.

I'm hoping we have enough quality in the OL that Sark can scrap the two TEs lined up in the slot to trap DL because our former lardass OL couldn't get out of their own way. Banks fixed a lot of that.
