Coffee and heart burn

I'm an avid coffee drinker and have never had any side effects from the stuff. All of a sudden (last couple of weeks) I tend to get heartburn from it.

Has anybody experiences this before? Advice?

I remember learning that coffe and other caffienated drinks can commonly cause heartburn. Maybe your body has just started to be affected by it.

I was able to stop my coffee drinking from causing heartburn by adding more cream/milk/half-and-half. That neutralized it a bit, and has done the trick (it has worked for friends as well).

sounds like acid reflux. If it is chronic, better see a doctor. It happened to me...for about a few months, I kicked up some acid after drinking coffee...then after drinking sodas...then all the time. Maybe diluting the coffee with cream will help. I hope it works out okay...

I'd go to the doctor. I started like that and eventually started having heart burn a lot - taking tums/rolaids at least a couple times a day. Then I started having food get stuck in my esophogus and it hurt like hell. Went to the gastro doc and I had all kinds of scar tissue that had formed a "stricture" and I had to get it biopsied and stretched out.

They say it can come back, but I've been taking Nexxium (prilosec and prevacid are similar, I believe) for a couple years and it has actually changed my life. I don't have to worry about what I eat as much and you don't realize how much better you feel.
