Coaching News and Rumors

Appreciate the importance of support staff, but "most impressive hires" in college football? Can someone explain this take?

Don"t know anything about Stewart but Nagy has been around forever. As a scout for the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and Washington Commanders.. Most recently he hss been running the Senior bowl.
He will lead the Sooners' roster building, player evaluation, recruiting and compensations operations which apparantly were a mess last year.
He has relationships across college football, the agent community, and all 32 NFL front offices.

What is concerning is that he is close friends with a certain former Dallas Cowboy TE whose last name is Witten. Witten's son just happens to be the #1 LB in the '27 class.

It's a ways away but bears watching.

That's more than enough time for him to get fed up with Venables
stupidity and the buffoonery that comes from the President's office and find another job

Burton at OTF is reporting a former Power 4 head coach should be joining the coaching staff as an offensive analyst, or as the special assistant to Sark.

He was a head coach during the 2024 season, so process of elimination makes it look like it's Neal Brown from West Virginia.

I smell Mack in this.
That hard headed son of a ***** better not have any input into anything in our program other than whether he wants regular or diet Coke at the concession stand. He not only burned that bridge, he scorched the earth for a hundred miles around it. We wasted millions and how many years recovering from his escapade. Thank you, Billy Powers.
We need Sabre on this.
Don't ask me, I would have outplaced him several years before it occurred. Makes me actually feel sorry for Kwiakowski, but the people in my section will be happy because when I yell "Akina" takes less breath and time to get out.

6721,

Best comparison I can draw is two examples at OU

1) Cale & Scott Frost as co- OCs

2) Mike Stoops & Venables as co- DCs

On the bright side, to my knowledge Akina NEVER

1) Bet on our games when he was coaching (yes, it happened)

2) Hit on a former star players wife or players girlfriends (don't open that can of worms)

Those are the two best things I can say about him. Maybe Sark can change him, in which case, I'll drive to Austin, shake his hand, and personally thank Sark.

Viper,

Thanks; that reminded me of another positive for Akina. To my knowledge, he never asked any donors to buy, finance, or cosign for his girlfriend (not his wife) a new car.
