And holy **** does it suck.

Quite a step down from Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage to Jack Johnson, Portishead and Roger Waters. There's no way in hell I am going to suffer through the hell that is that festival for those bands. There are all of 6 acts in that entire line-up I have any level of desire to see. Oh yeah, and they want $20 more than last year.

After looking at last year's lineup I was really really excited to see this one. I was going to try to go this year, but you're right about that lineup.... just not worth all that money.

Spank Rock would be fun.

Sunday would be the day I would have to go to. Simian Mobile Disco will bring down the house. Same with Dimitri from Paris who does not come stateside too much. Dub Poetry at its finest with Lynton Kwesi Johnson, yes please. But you are right, it is so thin with steallar names. But those alone would be worth it for me on that day.

Then again, if they are going to that, they are touring the states more than likely. Time to not think about going there and look to see who is touring when and where and await the SXSW lineups. I think the day showcases will be awesome this year.

No, I imagine Portishead will perform the majority of the album Dummy, one of the best albums of the 1990's and one of my favorite albums of all time. Then they will throw in a few tracks from their self titled, and several from their new album that is coming out this year.

That said, the lineup does indeed suck this year. (went last year and it was awesome). Last year Rage Against the Machine, The Roots, Air, Bjork, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys, Interpol, Explosions in the Sky, Jesus And Mary Chain, DJ Shadow, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Amy Winehouse, Rufus Wainwright, Tokyo Police Club, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Willie Nelson, Decemberists, Tiesto, The Black Keys, LCD Soundsystem, Regina Spektor, Ghostface Killah, Hot Chip, Pharoahe Monche, The Coup, Lupe Fiasco, The Frames, Andrew Bird, Kaiser Chiefs, Damien Rice...

This year Jack Johnson is headlining Friday. Enough said.

Just had to step in and defend Portishead. Hope they come to ACL.

No need to defend Portishead, it was not my intent to ridicule them as artists. The point is that they are a surprising, to say the least, to headline one of the premier music festivals in the U.S. considering they released two albums in 13 years (a live album notwithstanding) and are known at large for one song. I thought I had seen rumors in the past couple of weeks that David Bowie would be headlining Coachella, so seeing the actual line-up is all the more disappointing.

so we got animal collective, malkmus, minus the bear, sasha/digweed and fatboy slim for ol times sake, the streets, and the islands. plus 2-3 more i'd see if i were there. so 7-9 bands for how much now? not paying extra just so roger waters can insult me.

I see a ton of good **** i want to see on that list:

The Verve is back -- awesome!
Tegan
The National
Stars
Battles
Aesop Rock
Minus the Bear
SPANK ROCK!
Architecture in Helsinki
Data Rock
Rogue Wave
DCFC
Rilo
Dwight
MIA
Hot Chip
CWK
Stephen Malkmus
DeVotchKa
Jamie T
The Teenagers
VHS or Beta
Akron Family
Uffie
MMJ
Justice
Chromeo
Metric
Les Savy Fav
Sia
Holy ****
Black Kids
I'm from Barcelona

The headliners are wack. I have no desire to see Portishead anymore, and Jack Johnson is about as weak as them scheduling James Blunt a few years ago, who everyone openly mocked during his set, especially when he decided to cover the Pixies.

I hope that ACL can get this undercard bc i doubt i can go to Coachella this year, with 3 solid headliners instead of this lineup.
