Im at E Davenports, Duncanville vs Cedar Hill game. We're waiting on the game to start n guess who walks n the gym ? Coach GG n crew. Yep _ almost fell out of my seat. Soooo excited! Get'em Empress!
Wow, there ought to be three future Longhorns featured in that matchup. In addition to Empress I believe Terry and Adams, both 2013 top 50 recruits, should be starting for Cedar Hill. Please give us a full report after the game, Cynt!
I couldn't find a full box score, only one that listed final score and points. Duncanville won 53-30 after leading by just six, 22-16, at the half. Three of the top four scorers were future Horns; Davenport and Terry both had 10 pts and Adams scored 8. Hopefully Cynt will provide a more in-depth recap! FYI Duncanville is currently the 4th ranked team in the State, and Cedar Hill is 17th.
Davenport she reminds me of Lindsey Harding. She handles the ball well and has a nice jumper, 3 ptr and will take it to the hole. She plays tough defense. She picked up 3 fouls in the first half and picked up her 4th foul in the 3rd qtr. Coach sat her until the 4th quarter. I think she was playing nervous and being too agressive because Coach G was there. I can't wait to go back and see her playing her normal game more relaxed. She was guarding all 5 positions thru out the game. She has good defense skills. Duncanville as a whole has great defensive schemes...think UCONN. Cedarhill kind of hung around 1st half but 2nd half lights out Duncanville. I think I just found a new HS team to follow this year.
I didn't read this forum until after the game so I can't speak to the Cedar Hill players.
Duncanville has a LONG history of big-time winners...Tiffany Jackson and many more...they were coached for many years by the legend of HS Coaches, Sandra Meadows...Most amazing is her 134 consecutive wins from December 20, 1987 until March 1, 1991.
The Sandra Meadows High School Classic will be played after Christmas in The Sandra Meadows Arena....
So, whoever picks Duncanville as a favorite team is picking history, tradition..WINNERS.
Meadows was a heck of a coach. I had the luck of a DHS WBB run in the State Championship games while I was in Jr High and High School. WBB was THE sports highlight of Duncanville when she was there.
