CO WA legalizing pot

Let's say you go snow skiing in CO and smoke some pot (legal) and you come back to Texas and take a drug test and test positive for pot... is that grounds for getting fired even if you did not break any laws?

If it's against company policy then the law doesn't matter. And the laws are a moot point. They do not supercede federal law. And if you are smoking a joint next to me on a lift then I will likely push you off. I never understood people getting buzzed (with any substance) then careening down a mountain at 40 mph with small children and large trees all around.

I vote in WA and voted for it. Alcohol is a more 'harmful' drug when it comes down to actual bodily harm. Time to end the prohibition, regulate it, then tax the **** out of it.

Though I do not smoke pot, or anything else either, I find this law similar to our voter ID law.

The states should be able to pass their own laws without worry that the feds will "overturn" or "overrule" them.

What if the feds just said smoking anything was now illegal, but all the states passed laws saying you could smoke?

When can we the states actually govern ourselvs?

the federal government (or any government) should not make laws to protect me from myself. drugs, seatbelts, suicide, euthenasia etc.

I should be able to whatever I want to myself no matter the consequences.

The government should only make laws that protect me from outside events/people/things.

yeah for CO/WA.

The seat belt law is idiotic...you are going to allow me to ride my motorcycle without a helmet, but give me a ticket for not wearing a seat belt..... exit logic.

I've driven several times under influence of the pot. Anyone who attempts to drive post bong rip is pretty idiotic. It's extremely cliche to say alcohol is more dangerous than pot. Both are extremely dangerous.

Seat belt laws save lives. I'm as "small government" as most here but common sense ought to prevail over blind desire to get the government out of your life.

As long as everyone promises not to expect me to pay for the consequenses of your behaviors I have no intentions of legislating your behaviors.

If you have one, you can not expect exclusion from ther other.
