CNNSi on 2005 MLB draft

The MLB draft can be a real crapshoot, so that might be the most talented draft class ever.

Here are some of the other misses, though:
#8: Wade Townsend, Rice, Tampa Bay, 5.08 ERA in A ball last year
#17: CJ Henry, OKC high school, Yankees, batted .184 in A-ball last year
#19: John Mayberry, Stanford, Rangers, batted .236 between A and AA last season
#21: Cliff Pennington, A&M, Oakland, 714 OPS between A and AA last season
#24: Brian Bogusevic, Tulane, Astros, 7.14 ERA in 6 AA starts last year
#38: Eli Iorg, Tennessee, Astros, still hasn't played a game at AA

That draft might have also given the Red Sox the edge over the Yankees for years to come. The Yankees got CJ Henry in the first round. Including supplemental picks, the Red Sox had five first-rounders: Ellsbury, Bucholz, Michael Bowden (good year at AA as a 20-yo), Jed Lowrie (led all minor league SS in OPS last year between AA and AAA), and Craig Hansen ( already had a couple of ML call-ups, but seems stuck at AAA).
