Clemens trial begins today

I had been thinking that The Rocket was going to go down in flames over these charges...but I was reminded earlier this week that you never know about the American legal system, whether it be a criminal or civil trial (see Casey Anthony).

Which one of you lying sob's said this:

But there was one baseball fan in the group who was very familiar with Clemens and said he'd been following him since he helped lead the University of Texas Longhorns to victory in the College World Series in 1983. "He was a heck of a ballplayer," said the man, a former IRS database programmer. But he said he has no opinion on his guilt or innocence.

I dunno why we even bother to have trials anymore. Since forum aggies are capable of being judge, jury, and executioner.

I mean, the manner at which you can master facts is astonishing, the trial for example is in Washington DC. Are they busing this "texas jury" in from college station perchance?

I apologize for that.. I was having a bad night.

Something funny last night, looks rather mean spirited today.

FWIW, didn't they originally offer Roger a chance to duck out on the testimony and he demanded to proceed? Which set about this whole chain of events.

He's being judged by a jury of his peers.

DC Women.

Makes no difference now that a mistrial has been granted. The US government might not be in business by the September date.

Perfect ending for Roger............the stigma of the Government violating the Judge's order on some damaging evidence to Roger and that will be the end result. The Government trying to destroy Clemons by ANY MEANS POSSIBLE. This is MUCH better than an acquittal since no more information will come out.

With everything else going on in and around Washington, D.C. and our government in general, I would think the prosecution will find it hard to justify even trying to resurrect this matter, even if the judge does not find that a new trial would violate the concept of 'double jeopardy'.

Well, there would be no double jeopardy because there was no trial. They have until Sept. 2 to figure out how to redo it.

I think he'll eventually get the Chris Webber or Barry Bonds treatment, where he's found guilty of some minor count, and get 400 hours of community service or some **** like that.

Actually, double jeopardy could very well apply. the government doesnt get to do stuff like this and then get a second at bat if the judge rules it was done purposely etc.

I keep thinking they have better things to do, but then of course, they'd just be screwing up somehting more important.

So, go ahead. Go after baseball players that the MLB didn't even care to test.
