I don't think they should. If it wasn't up there already, I wouldn't go about putting it up there. However, since it's already there, I don't think they should take it down. Maybe if he ends up in prison.

I think as long as OJ's 32 is still hanging at USC everyone is safe.

But seriously, when has any program taken down a retired number? People make mistakes...he made some, but it doesnt have anything to do with what he did for The University. You dont retire someone's jersey and then tell them...act right or we will take it down.

eflow, I'm 95% sure that's incorrect.

I'll check my media guide when I get home, but I'm almost positive Clemens was never even 1st team All-SWC.

Edit: Never mind, here it is on the UT website...

He made one pre-season AA team.

He never made 1st-team All-SWC either, while Schiraldi, Capel, and Killingsworth all did at least once in 82-83.


I'm guessing Rusty Hardin wrote that Wikipedia entry.

So, what we've established here is that RC didn't deserve his number on the wall based upon his play for UT (pretty much widely known), that Wiki is not always reliable for truth and accuracy (definitely already known), and that RC didn't actually make AA or even All-SWC (much less widely known).

I think that about sums this up.
