Cleaning the car battery connections

I have always heard you can pour coke on them and the acid will get rid of the gunk. Does it matter what kind of cola you use? All I have right now is some Dr. Pepper in the fridge. Will that work? Does it matter if it is cold?

any carbonated beverage will do- it's the "soda" that does the trick, so club soda would be your best bet because it won't leave a sticy mess. If you use DP, just rinse with clean water after. The coldness won't matter as long as it's not flat.

Just go to the Auto parts store and buy some cleaner.
