cleaning stainless steel?

i just got a dining room table with a stainless steel top. what is good to clean stainless with? i remember hearing that some cleaners might damage it, but can't remember which. think windex or something is ok?

Get the windex that is made out of vinegar, and just use that. Regular vinegar is probably fine, but the guy that sold me all my stainless appliances recommended the vinegar stuff.

There are products made just for stainless steel, but I can't think of the name for them. You should get one of them, though.

i cant remember the name either but it comes in like a grey liquid. You use a towel to spread it around and then wash it off. it works. any place like Home depot should have it

I actually find the "stainless steel cleaners" to be too greasy, and they leave a yucky residue.

I think using Windex is actually better.

The cleaning cream I used wasnt greasy at all. It washed right off. On another note I was in home depot today and they have some special cleaning wipes made for stainless steel

look in the cleaning product dept. Sounds like they would be easy to use

hmmm, don't know what happened to the post I tried to add awhile ago...
anyway, just saying thanks for all the replies. think i'll stick with windex for the daily smudges (as long as I know it's not doing major damage) but get the wipes or whatever from Home Depot for more major cleanups. Seeing as I don't eat many meals at the table, I'm generally cleaning up more finger smudges and cat pawprints than anything else.

Boats have a lot of stainless steel, therefore, go to West Marine or some such place.

The product I'm thinking of is called "Klitz", (no joke) or something like that.

EDIT----- ok, its "Flitz" .
