Class Ring?

My nephew will be a senior next year at UT and I was considering buying him a traditional class ring like mine I bought back in the 80's. My ring has the star on top, with the UT seal on one side and a longhorn on the other. I've seen many generations of this style ring with other family members and friends. It's been around for decades. The only ring I can find online is the Texas Exes sponsored ring. Is that really the only style class ring that is available for UT graduates. I have nothing against this new style of ring, but I'm more of a traditionalist and I think my nephew would really like the old style ring. I think I bought mine from Balfour. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you talked with your nephew to see if he wants a class ring? I don't want to turn this into a yes/no on class rings, but many people don't want one. Or they're happy to have one but never wear it.

Get him the SEIKO watch!

At $229.95, you might pick up one for yourself.

I need to get one. My parents gave me the cash for one when I graduated grad school (UT for both undergrad and grad school). But I needed the cash for rent (hadn't found a job yet) more than the ring. But I feel guilt years later for not buying one...

Speaking of which... for those of you that went to UT for undergrad and grad school (or law school), if you got a class ring (and didn't have one after undergrad) what year do you put on there? What degree? I have an BS, MS and PhD from UT so I don't know what year or degree to put on there if I wanted to get one.

Get each year and three little diamonds put into your ring.

Reminiscent of the Dallas Cowboys' 5th Super Bowl Ring.
