Sorry, I just cant let more than a couple of months go by without posting something about the greatest female athlete that I watched.

A great athlete, a great ambassador for the universtiy and for the game. She never forgot that the game is won or lost on the floor, not over the basket. I coached some AAU ball a million midnights ago and all coaches lived by the creedo that "you can't teach speed". Then I saw Clarissa Davis.

Longhorn Royalty. Ok, I have had my fix, I will be back in late September.

I doubt she is putting down the University. I am under the impression that she had a falling out with Gail. If she said anything negative, it would be about the coaching staff rather than the University. I don't know what went down but I do know that she loves UT.
The Link

"Her passion and love for The University of Texas and basketball are unmatched."

But how can one love UT, and at the same time dislike the staff of the sport one played at UT?? Doesn't seem to co-exist as an AAU coach of high school players that UT is recruiting.

Of course this is JMO....i HAVE NO IDEA what happened either.

like others, i have no clue about coach g's relationship with clarissa, but i agree with babhorn than any ill feelings, or steering away of players seems highly unlikely. if anything i would assume the two have a lot of respect for each other, not to mention that jody and clarissa are close, and jc ialso thinks very highly of coach g (and, it goes without saying, the university). i can't imagine for a second any type of nonsense of the type implied by others has occurred. i could be wrong but this will be my firm assumption until it is proven otherwise.

I'm not sure what the situation is with Clarissa and the staff, but some of the former players from last yr's squad didn't quite gel w/ GG either, and it really affected our chances with Kelsey Bone (few players on the squad were close to her). Cokie Reed was pretty much a Texas Lean from the start of Texas' recruiting process. The staff prior to GG did a great job on her..... I say give GG some time to get comfortable, she'll start pulling in the top recruits in the next few yrs.

I hope Coach G can get things turned around recruiting in Texas, but I'm afraid she'll have to depend on national recruits...

As y'all witnessed on the court, Clarissa is a tough competitor and won't take any mess from anybody. That goes for her off the court too.

I'd hate to think that Clarrisa is putting down The University that she represented as a student athlete.

Coach G had no problem recruiting nationally when she was at Duke. Texas players were already heading to A&M and Baylor before she came along.
