Civility at its finest.

Can't decide between these 2 latest examples
The Vice President calling Tea Party members terrorists
or this poly cartoon from the Tucson paper.

Remember the shooting in Tucson spurred the Dems to call for civility?

Would you call either of these " civil"?

I don't know if I'm outraged as you are 6721, they did say they don't care if the Govt. defaults and checks are stopped so long as the bill wasn't how they exactly wanted it.

Mind you they are 15% of a party that is about 50% of overall govt- or a net, 6.5% of total govt making demands on the other 93.5% to go its way or else.

I don't like it when people make analogies to Nazis or terrorism for everything, but there is something to be said for similarities.

Shoot, I am impressed that the small group of tea party members were able to make a significant change in how congress does business. We need more like them. I think heroes might be a more appropriate name than terrorists. Hard though to call someone a hero though for simply doing their job

And I am not sure what point the cartoon is trying to make. From my perspective, it looks like satire. Obama sending in the seals for congressmen trying to save our future... What runins it though is the phrase "They're threatening to bring down the entire US government if their demands aren't met". I would have preferred if the artoon said, "They are threatening to call out the entire US Congress if their demand to stop spending is not met"..

? I am not outraged over Dem incivility.I am not even surprised. It is typical

but ," they did say they don't care if the Govt. defaults and checks are stopped so long as the bill wasn't how they exactly wanted it."?
1.Who is this "they" and do you have a link with someone acknowledged as a member of the Tea Party saying that?

The op makes a great case regarding the general lack of intellectual honesty and clarity. He she also is a fine example of consistency.

Given the presence of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., at Congress last night – and President Obama’s January 12 speech to the nation about the need for “more civility in our public discourse” – the White House has faced questions in the last day about Vice President Biden’s possible behind-closed-doors use of the word “terrorists” to describe Tea Partyers.

As we covered yesterday, meeting with anxious House Democrats yesterday, the Vice President heard from Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Penn., who said “the Tea Party acted like terrorists in threatening to blow up the economy.”

Doyle used the term several times. What happened next is in dispute. Several sources told Politico that the Vice President responded by saying, “they have acted like terrorists.”

Other sources told ABC News that the vice president said something along the lines of “if they have acted like terrorists, we’re taking the nuclear weapon away from them.”

The Vice President told CBS News’ Scott Pelley, "I did not use the terrorism word…What happened was there were some people who said they felt like they were being held hostage by terrorists. I never said that they were terrorists or weren't terrorists, I just let them vent. I said, ‘Even if that were the case, what's been happening when you now have taken and paid the debt and move that down so we can now discuss, the nuclear weapon's been taken out of anyone's hands.’"

One reporter today asked White House press secretary Jay Carney about reports that the Veep had used the term, wondering if “the president thinks that's appropriate discourse?”

“No, he doesn't, and neither does the vice president,” Carney said. “And I think the vice president spoke to this and made clear that he didn't say those words, and I think the congressman in question has said that he regrets using them.”

Carney said the use of the word “was a product of an emotional discussion, very passionately held positions in this debate, but that does not mean that it's appropriate. And it's not. The vice president doesn't think so; the president doesn't think so. Any kind of comments like that are simply not conducive to the kind of political discourse that we hope to have.”

Some people are so intent on posting a smark they either do not read a post pr they deliberately ignore it just so they can post a snide remarks

Show us where I said the Dems wrote the Tucson paper cartoon?

show me how reminding people that Dems called for civility is the same as saying Dems wrote the cartoon.

Clarity? How much clearer do people need it. How did it confuse anyone?

In most civilized people's minds A President calling for certain people to be killed by SEALS would not be considered civil.

Talk about intellectual dishonesty.

I believe that the Tea Party just exposed what is wrong with this government. Getting the conversation started is what will double the amount of Tea Partiers in the 2012 race. I was a fan of their's before the past couple weeks, I am now a full fledged supporter. In talking to my family there is another 10-15 that I know for sure have gone from Republican supporters to Tea Partiers!!!

Liberals and newspapers keep calling us names, especially Terrorists and Racists, your mischaracterizations only make us stronger and more resolved to change the direction of our out of control now Socialist government.

rv
You have taken obfuscation to a new low
Are you pretending you thought the mention of a cartoon showing a president calling for a seal raid on the congress was saying a president actually called for a raid?

are you still trying to pretend you misunderstood the OP?

At least you are predictable. Silly but predictable.

rv, that comment that you quoted was in response to you ad others and it is intellectually dishonest to claim that that influenced your post. Moreover, reading the entire post, it is clear he was speaking about the cartoon. nice try to sidetrack the conversation, though.

I think you're projecting when you accuse me of intellectual dishonesty. Read his post. I quote his post. I respond to his post.

Are you suggesting that his point is that cartoon characters are uncivil? Really?

And I'm the one being intellectually dishonest. What a joke.

my rattlesnake does not bite but yours is mean and bites all the time.

No, it is your rattlesnake that does the biting, mine is a pacifist and zen environmentalist.

Your rattlesnake is venomous in the extreme and mine is a quaker.

blah, blah, blah.

kind of like whne democratic local politicians threaten to fire police and fireman instead of cutting the administrative/social fat first when cuts are recommended. even if the gov defaulted, checks were still going to paid just like when this happened in the past. this was the only time any negotiation could have taken place. the gov is reactionary, they dont plan for any type of sticky situation that could occur. all the tea party republicans wanted was a balanced budget amendment in exhange for raising the debt cealing and legitimate cuts. if you dont see that, you are a kool aid drinking fool.
