City of Austin Free Toilet Program

I got one. My problem with them is that the bowl is shaped in such a way that it can take more than one flush to get all of the solids sucked away. This would seem to negate most of the water savings from using the toilet. Of course it could just be that I have a messed up bowel system.

_ Got one, about a year ago. Solids have clogged it up about 6 times. Without going into descriptive terms of my lower G.I. tract, I recently discovered a solution... you flush just before a 'movement finishes', so its usually a double flush for me.

... seems that that underwater area (the hole you see at the bottom of the bowl) is where a clog starts. But I installed it myself, so there was minimal out of pocket Xpense, fi my technique holds up, I guess its somewhat a positive changeout.

I installed the elongated ADA toilet in November. I think it has clogged maybe 2-3 times since, and that was because I had too much tp. Really no regrets whatsoever with the switch; it works like a champ and has noticeably reduced my water consumption (old toilet was a 5-gallon).

Also, be aware that the elongated bowl (800 g per flush) tested better than the round bowl (500 g per flush) in standardized flushing tests.

Hands down the worst thread to open while eating my morning bowl of oatmeal...

1.25 gpf? I would be hesitant to use that since my 1.6 gpf clogs up too easily. Wipe more than 2 or 3 times and you better get the plunger ready.

As an owner of the free (it was really $20 since I opted for the elongated bowl) HET, I disagree with your assessment. Easily flushes several wads of tp along with the mother load.
