Church plans to protest Ledger's funeral

It really bothers me that people call that group of self-centered, racist, homophobic ******** a church.

And that they are allowed to even be considered a church.

They're about as Christian as, ohhh I don't know? Osama Bin Laden or Satan maybe?
 
The only people that belong to Westboro Baptist are family and extended family members. Covering them is done only for shock value, think car chases.

it is despicable but they are not going to kill anyone in the name of God.
Not sure how you can compare them to the radical murdering muslims.
 
you don't have to murder someone to be a nutso ( I dated a crazy…better not go there) ....and i know they are not in the majority..but you do have to admit that whenever we think of "nutso religious freaks" we tend to look at other religions...

My own church is oftentimes subjected to a picket line from a hate group headed by a Rev. Otwell that calls itself a "church." And it's a fairly big group.

Our youth bring them coffee when it's cold, soft drinks when it's hot. They readily accept both gifts.

That's how you deal with them.
 
These people showed up at the high school in Fayetteville, Arkansas once and got their asses handed to them.

You are missing the point. These people justify free speech; they run around screaming about how God despises homosexuals, those who tolerate homosexuals and pretty much everyone else. As they do so, they very clearly illustrate the fact that homophobia is retarded and that homophobes are a bunch of nutjobs.

Idiocy deserves to be paraded around so that it can be properly ridiculed.
 
The fact that they have an outcry of criticism like this is exactly why they do it. They are all a bunch of uneducated, lowlifes with nothing better to do. All they want is attention. They probably dont believe in half the things they preach.

They are like a litle kid pretending to be hurt so somebody pays attention to them

We all need to ignore them and they will go away.
 
This is the same group that protested a soldier's funeral in suburban Tulsa recently. I am glad the bikers went to protest the protestors.

Some people are in some serious need of an ***-kicking, yeah, I said it. I don't feel too badly about it either. This group openly disgraces our fallen troops and now Heath Ledger who played a gay man in a freakin' movie. Talk about being fame whores.

If I see anyone protesting a soldier's funeral, I honestly don't know what I would do. I'd probably take the high road no matter how badly I'd have wanted to kick those people's asses.
 
estimated Number of church members range from a low of 71 to a high of 171( according to Wiki) but those figures include his extended family members down to great grandchildren( that is around 90).
I have only see less than 10 when this group has been shown on TV.
I wondered how they could afford to travel to all those protests.
AH HA !they have significant awards of attorney's fees from the Civil Rights Attorney's Fees Award Act of 1976 when WBC has been improperly prevented from picketing. Hundreds of thousands of dollars
Like it or not ( and I hate it) this vile group has the right and is protected.
 
Recently, she (Shirley Phelps-somethingorother) got her *** handed to her on a D.C. radio show. The DJ asked her about her illegitimate children (not sure if it was one son or two) and she went nuts.

'To the poster that talked about these people being uneducated. Shirley Phelps went to law school (has a JD from Washburn)...the family has their own law firm. Her father is a former civil rights lawyer who was disbarred. (good article here: Phelps in the early days )

I read, with interest, that the elder Phelps considers himself to be a five point Calvinist. He is a heretic looney who misinterprets scripture to purposefully mislead people into sin and not away from it. If anyone is going to hell, it will most likely be Phelps and his followers.
