I saw Chris Whaley play against the Groesbeck Goats last night and his performance was above average at best. My friend who keeps stats for a newspaper told me that Whaley ran 18 times for 128 yards. He also had touchdown runs of 6 and 22 yards as Madisonville won 24-13. My take on Whaley is that he is a good back but probaly not the top back in the state. He has good but not great speed. He does have good cutting and slashing ability for a guy his size but he will not run over you as the Goats stacked him up several times at the line. Saw alittle Adrian Peterson in him but not as good as him. My overall take of Whaley is that he could be a hell of a defensive end at Texas but not running back. Whaley really didn't present a problem for the goats it was another player who they had that was really fast. I think his last name was Morgan but he ran twice for 100 yards and 2 scores as he played reciever most of the night. He was second in the class 3A 100meter run at state last may.

Thanks for the update. Not bad numbers. Hopefully, one game does not a season make and let's not set the bar too high.

Did he play on defense at all? I've read posts here where some have projected him to eventually end up at lb or de. Just curious.

I really don't remember seeing him on the defensive side on the ball last night. Just his body frame and size plus speed makes me think defrensive end. Oh and the guy who ran twice for 100 yards was not named Morgan, it was Brock Taylor.

He doesn't play D but many here (me included) think that because of his size now that he will grow out of the RB position. From the film I have watched I also think he is only a decent RB. He simply does not wow you and for a guy that size the lack of broken tackles amazes me.

Whaley's team lost almost all their starters from last season on offense. Many will say that he is not "all that" if he does not match last years numbers, which will be unlikely considering the loss of talent around him. IMO, he is one of the best backs in the country.

CW had 200+ and 4 TDs against Coldspring in second game. Two O-line starters went down, one for the season...

CW had about 275 on 30 carries in 3rd game , a close loss to Palestine Westwood. 4th game against Crockett has been canceled

Whaley suffered a thigh bruise in last week's game vs Caldwell. had about 80 yds on 8 carries and a TD, but was out from early 2nd quarter on

Well if he keeps putting up numbbers like this then he very well could be top running back on the 40 acers. My question is would Mack and Co. give him a legitimate shot as a freshmen or would they redshirt him.

"He got moved to Athlete by rivals."

I would put about 0 stock in that. Just my opinion. This kid is a star at rb.

No ACL, it's a quote from Uncle Ed of the National Lampoon's Vacation movies. It conveys my amazement/disbelief at those stats. Looks like he and Gilbert are putting up some serious numbers this year.

I have a hard time finding a site with up to date high school football stats but just looking at this thread and the stats ACL has posted, Whaley has had 400+, 275, 200+, 128. His stats have gotten better each game.

I would think this guy would start making some moves up those rankings.
