So the soup thread got me thinking about chili. Where are some good places? I don't eat chili out much, just make it myself. I like the chili at Texas Land and Cattle Co. I miss the chili burger at Waterloo on 4th.

Texas Chili Parlor is good. [James Brown]Makes me sweat-ah![/James Brown]

Also like the chili at Shady Grove.

FYI . . . every bowl of Wendy's chili averages a (burnt) 1/4-pound patty. Once a burger spends too much time on the grill, it goes to the "chilli meat" pile.

I did 2 years at that place in high school. It's actually prett sanitary.

I hate to say this, but every time I get chili out, I'm dissapointed. Thing is, chili is REALLY easy to make and its just better fresh. Here is what I make, maybe someone else can try it:

2lbs ground meat. Venison, Turkey, lean beef, whatever. You can used cubed meat as well if its venison or beef.
2 onions, diced
1 green pepper, diced
3 gloves of Garlic, minced
6 jalapeno peppers, diced
4-5 dried chili peppers, ground
2-3 tablespoons of chili powder
2 tablespoons of cumin
2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar
1 can tomato paste (small can - 6 oz)
1 can diced tomatoes - 28 oz
1 can diced tomatoes in sauce - 14.5 oz
1/2 cup (ish) beef broth
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon basil

put a little olive oil in a pan and brown the meat. Drain the fat and add the onions. Let them cook for 10 minutes or so and add everything to a large pot. Let simmer for 3 hours or so and serve with sharp chedder.

I use a lot of the ingredients above, (okay, minus the cinnamon sugar). Also, I cut about 3 limes in half and let them float in there during the cooking process.

Sounds weird, but give it a try.

You guys are getting pretty creative cooking up some meat mash.

Ground Venison.
Wick Fowler's 2-Alarm.
Follow instructions.

Eat (a) over rice or (b) with sharp cheddar on Saltines if you like. And don't **** it up with beans.
