This is based off of MaximumBarnes' chili receipe that he posted a while back .. modified
.
about a 2 pound sirloin steak, cubed and browned
1.5 cups beef broth
1/2 a can of guiness
1 medium white onion, finely diced
2 jalapenos (one seeded), fined diced
1/2 to 1/4 of a bunch of cilantro, chopped roughly (no stems)
I can of ro-tel, drained
3 tblspoons chili powder
1 tbls cumin
Throw into a pot, simmer for three hours. Before simmering, looks like this -
The changes to the original receipe basically revolve around the tastes of my family. Cumin in quantity kicks like a drunk mule, and Texasfirefigher is not huge on lots of spice, so we cut that back. I love the flavor of cilantro, so I added that in. This is actually take 3 of the receipe - last round involved bell peppers, which just got soggy and tasteless, and newcastle brown which, while tasty, wasn't right for this. I think I'm much closer to heaven with this take - more to be posted soon.
Oh yeah, since it takes ~3 hours to cook, I had this for dinner -
