I am changing my vote.
After going to "Pluckers" this afternoon with a group of ball players and basically sampling almost every flavor they had I have to say that place was AWESOME!

The service was great and the food and drinks were fantastic.
They have a new flavor, something called "candy/garlic" or soemething like that.
That was incredible.
It had a mildy sweet taste but you could really taste the garlic as well.
Those, the hot, and the lemon pepper blew us away.

I was impressed.

I heard they are opening up another one (much bigger) up north.
I cannot remember the exact location (I live south) but the North Austin guys can't wait for it to open.
If you haven't tried them before give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.
We went to the one on 23 and Rio Grande.

Plucker's? Unreal...I remember when they first opened and I said "They'll never make it."

Should have known when one friend would go over for 12 wings EVERY NIGHT after drinks at Abel's.

They are doing well enough to open a SECOND store.
To be honest, I do not really like the wings that are not breaded ( Hooters, was my original favorite because I liked the breaded) but these wings were awesome.

There is a little hole in the wall in South Austin called the "Fry House" and they serve fried chicken with no breading.
Gotta admit it is some of the best "deep fried" chicken around.

Pluckers reminds me of the Fry house but with A TON of different flavors.

I think the thing I like the most was the fact that the manager was telling us if they had a flavor that may not be that popular or not a hit they would take it off and try another flavor.

They seemed to cater to the clientel, it really seemed personal.
She (the manager) was very honest when we asked about certain flavors (this one flavor seems to be real popular, this one we may not keep anymore because it doesn't sell well) and I and everyone there appreciated that.

All of her suggestions on what to try were right on target.
That showed us that they are listening to the customers requests.
They definitely are no afraid to try new things, I would have never ordered "Candy/garlic" chicken, but she highly recommended trying it and boom!
It is now one of my favorites.

My father fondly recalls his trip to L.A. to find a job after college.

He had no money. He stayed in a ****** motel on the edge of Watts.

After spending all day looking for a job, he would go to the chicken shack on the corner near his hotel. For 25 cents, he could get 3 fried chicken wings and a Falstaff. He'd eat it sitting out on the curb. He had that for dinner every night for the 2 weeks he spent out there (he eventually gave up and came back to Texas to find a job, but he still recalls those chicken wings with affection).

I love pluckers but sometimes the service sucks...last night I tried to order in a drunken stupor on the way home from sixth (i wasn't driving) and they had run out of fries...how the hell does a restaruant run out of fries...pissed me off so i called wing zone for their very average food and average it was but it least i got fries.

i was one of the first employees there at the rio grande store. I still love their food. I ate at the new one last week and it seems they are doing well.

I still make their fire in the hole(used to be en fuego) and use it at home.

maybe i'm a giant *****, but i don't understand how people can eat more than 2 of the fire in the hole wings. i ate a couple of those ******** once, and i thought i was going to die. my friend was so pissed-off at how hot they were that he dumped his left-over sauce into the ketchup bottle. not sure what good that did, but he felt better afterwards.

Its weird. In Atlanta, there is a wing restaurant on every other corner. That city is innudatred with waffle houses, wing joints, and california-style burrito places (think freebirds)Anyway, i was always a pluckers fan, but i have gone in there a few times lately and the service was abso-*******-lutely awful. The food is good though.

I actually HATE the battered style of wings. Most of the places in the ATL serve them "naked" and i perfer tham that way.

To be honest, I do not like (very MUCH dislike) naked wings.
Pluckers is the only place I have been to that I actually LIKE the wings that way.
I love the different flavors.

I never tryed Pluckers. Ive been to Wing Zone and was very dissapointed. I guess I need to try Pluckers.
