I love raw oysters. Is there a place, preferably in North Austin, that has any good cheap oysters.

Alligator Grill used to have 25 cent oysters, but they kind of flip flop on that.

i think captain's has good deals on them, but especially during happy hour.

it's on i35 just south of 183... maybe exit st johns and get on the southbound access rd... but you may want to look it up before you take my word on those directions.

I seem to recall that Finn & Porter (in the downtown Hilton, sorry not north) carries a multitude of oyster choices.

Eddie V's has very cheap happy hour oysters - everyday but Sunday 4:00 - 7:00. It is a hell of a deal if you just go in there and load up on oysters and beer.

give pappadeaux's a call and see if they still ahve their special running. they had a good deal a month or so ago.

i've had pretty bad experiences with sam's boat. it might've been coincidence that the two times i went i had waitresses who had just started training, but the general manager didn't handle it too well either.

eddie v's calamari is absolutely incredible. i was actually telling someone about it earlier today... what are their happy hour prices like?

I damn near died from eating at Alligator Grill. Worst food poisoning imagineable. Really a horrid experience.

Quality Seafood on Airport near Highland Mall had some nice size ones last week. They opened up a oyster bar in the market. It is pretty nice.

yes utexas.

more up your alley though, some places do a concoction with a raw oyster, seasonings and liquor to make an actual oyster shot.

I know that if it has alcohol, you'll ingest it.

went to eddie v's yesterday... the oysters were great.

their happy hour deal is .35 cent oysters, $1 off any drink (not great... beers in the $3-5 range, liquor $4-7, and dollar off wine). half price appetizers except for the lobster ones.

we had the calamari (and i still think it's the best i've ever had) for $5 and tartare ahi tuna for $6.

this will definitely become a regular thing for me. those oysters were outstanding, as has been every single thing i've eaten there.

yeah, we had a group of five and just got appetizers and a bunch of drinks. ran about $100 for calamari, tartare ahi tuna, 2 dozen oysters, and a boatload of good drinks.

they aren't crowded at all when happy hour starts (430pm) but it gets that way a bit before 7.

eddie's has several kinds of oysters, i believe the happy hour ones are gulf. great size, excellent flavor.

rama:

Are you referring to Captain D's and not Captain's?

I've never seen a "Captain D's" since I moved from Dallas.

swTXSU is right... you won't find better fresher seafodd for sale than at Quality seafood. If you're just looking for Oysters, and not a great athmosphere, hotties etc... Quality Seafood is good stuff.
"Oysters A La Carte ½ dozen: $3.95 1 dozen: $7.95 "
