Cheap cpu for my kids to screw up

They've been banned from my computer, but they really need one, but not anything fancy. Willing to pay a few hundred dollars

I have built my own kitchen cabinets, but I always paid ToysRUs to assemble the bicycle. Somethings just aren't worth it to me. While I have changed out drives and installed cards and memory, I'm just a wee bit intimidated by the thought of building one. At a buck and a half, I will pass that project on to someone else.

What are their computing needs? If they don't need much then ask your friends if they have an old machine that they dono't know what to do with & let 'em use that one, after cleaning up the porn inevitably left behind by friends.

I've got two sitting here myself, but I've paid people to clean them up and they're still ****** up. I'm kinda irresponsible that way. I'll just throw something away to get rid of the bad mojo. Lord knows what the wife and kids do when they get a hold of my machines, but they invariably load viruses and change every setting.

I'm sure the boy would want to play some games as well, but yeah that's the barebones concept they need. I'm not going to build one myself so I have to be able to go buy and plug and play.

I just went here:
logic approach
They are on south Lamar. I got a 733Mghz pc with windows 2000, monitor and keyboard for $199. I just bought 5 for the office and they work like a champ for what I need.

This is a slightly different solution, but it may interest a few of you out there.

Knoppix is a bootable CD that contains all of your typical internet applications (and much much more). You literally boot the CD and have an instant operating system on the computer. What's great is that you don't have to worry about them screwing it up either, as you will just reboot to get everything back to the original condition.

Yes, it also includes a GUI similar to windows so don't worry about having to run a Linux operating system.

Knoppix Live

Just download the image to a computer with a CD burner, burn the image, and boot the CD on the old system. Aside from sometimes telling your computer to boot from CD, that's it!

Edit: Oh yeah, the most important part is that the download is FREE

Nick, you're in Austin, right? If you're in Dallas or Houston anytime soon, Fry's normally has their house-brand basic 800MHz or so CPU that they sell with everything but a monitor for $179.
