chances of Celts repeating?

a few of you know each team's contract situation very well, how many of the Celts are returning? They could lose PJ Brown and would benefit.

Aside from the Big 3, what about Posey, Perkins, Rondo, Powe, House? Thats a solid 8. Cassell should retire and I hope he does. Big Baby and Ariza are expendable. Damn, this team reminds me a lot of the 1994 Knicks with their football bodies.

anything is possible in the NBA ...look at the 24 to 66 + title Celtics, look at the Kobe wants out to Finals Lakers. But what are the Celts chances?

It will be interesting to see if Andrew Bynum fully recovers from his knee injury and can keep improving. If so, the Lakers should be pretty damn good again.

at the beginning of the year I knew the Celts and the Cavs were the cream of the East and did not really know who to pick. I had no idea the Celt defense was going to be this good and that their bench was so strong. They really are so well distributed that 1 or 2 guys can have off years and they would still be in the hunt for the East.

Lakers are soft. Having that many skinny Euros will never make them tougher. They should lose 1 or 2 of them and get some tough guys and definitely a point guard as DerekF is really looking old now.

I won't be surprised at all if Boston wins the East next year. Funny thing about Bill Russell, he said KG would win 2 or 3 in Boston and the old man may be right.

Perkins is locked up, I know that. Posey needs to be resigned but I think he will. They also have to re-up House & Brown if they want. I could see them picking up a better backup PG over the offseason.

I say their chances are pretty good. Cleveland is the only threat I see to them in the East. The West will be stacked again next year, especially the emergence of Portland onto the scene. The Lakers will have a tough time repeating, but if they could somehow get Artest, then they would be the favorites.

2009 is an odd number, it'll be the Spurs.

I would say they have a better than avg chance of getting back to the Finals. Hell, their team will primarily be intact. Much will hinge on whether or not Ray Allen decides to play like he did late in the playoffs vs his early playoff performance.

I am not sold on the Lakers being that much better with Bynum. Lakers were playing well with Bynum prior to Gasol arriving. I'm not sure how much time both Gasol and Bynum played together (but I don't hink it was much). Point being, I'm be interested to see how the chemistry works with both of them on the court. It's not guaranteed that the Lakers will be that much better simply because he's healthy.

Barring injury, I would be stunned if they aren't back in the finals. The key will be re-signing Posey. He will most definitely opt out and there are a ton of teams that could use him. Rondo should be better. Powe and Davis should be better. Perkins will likely be better. Tony Allen was hurt all year and he should be better. If Ray Allen doesn't decline and Posey re-signs, I don't see anybody touching them in the East.

In addition to bending Kevin McHale over like nobody's business, Danny Ainge did a phenomenal job filling out that bench. Every move he made was a homerun, with the possible exception of Cassell, which wasn't too terrible and had no downside other than taking minutes away from House. That was just an insurance policy anyway. They have a very nice young nucleus of role players along with solid veterans to go with their stars. Ainge did a masterful job putting that team together after the KG and Allen trades.

The East is creeping up and will be the dominant confernce soon, just one big cycle. if the Cavs add someone and learn to win in Boston, they could win it all next year. SA is on the decline as are the Mavs and Suns.
