Just thought Id start a thread if anyone wants to post about the game. I'm looking forward to it, even though I pretty much know the outcome.

Our game against UConn is looking better and better. Hopefully though, Cuse will wake up and give them a good game.

This is ugly!! SU getting beat at their own game. IMO, they should've tried to slow the game down instead of pressing the whole time.

forgot that UConn is missing their 3pt ace, Katie Lou Samuelson. Still, UConn is rolling, up by 21 at the end of the 3rd. Hate to think how bad it would be without that 16-0 Orange run just before the end of the quarter.

The only real threat to Stewie and the Gang would be if the UCONN alum in the stands got on the floor - Maya Moore, Sue Bird, Stephanie Dolson, et al.

:whiteflag:You would think only one UConn player suited up tonight if you listen to the announcers. And clearly Syracuse has no one of value on the court.

The lineup sheet given to the announcers looked like this:
UConn
Brianna Stewart
That other senior
That third senior
That other one
That fifth one
SYRACUSE
Five players wearing orange

Breanna Stewart is one of the best college basketball players ever. She has earned every bit of praise and accolade she receives. She has done this with class and grace. UCONN is a class act. And head and shoulders above the rest.

Who is knocking UConn or Stewart? I'm knocking the announcers. UConn had two other seniors in double digits and they both have first and last names.

UConn's margin of victory in the NCAAs: and they probably had their worst shooting night (credit Syracuse for that) as well as committing 17 TOs in the final.

UConn 101 Robert Morris 49 =52

UConn 97 Duquesne 51= 46

UConn 98 Miss. State 38 = 60

UConn 86 Texas 65 = 21

UConn 80 Oregon State 51 = 29

UConn 82 Syracuse 51 = 31

Hats off the best team the last four years.

I take a bit more solace in that Texas faced a much cleaner performance from UCONN and did better than anyone else in the tourney. Not a believer in moral victories but Texas has shown real progress.

Texas had the least losing margin and the highest point total agains UConn. I'll take it. I wanna see Texas play UConn in the fall!

And we played UConn on, virtually, their home court!

Syracuse should have never been in the Final 4....much less the championship game. Kudos to the committee for their seedings.....what a joke that was!

No one could beat UConn....but at least 3 other teams (if not more) would have been better representatives of women's basketball in the Final Four than what was there.

Historic moment for UConn. They're just that much better than anyone. Hats off to Geno for what he's done......records for the ages!

Well, as far as other teams being better representatives in the final four, Syracuse beat their ***, just like Oregon St and Washington beat the so called better higher seeded teams. The teams that made it deserved to be there because they beat the teams that didn't. This UConn team is just a once in a lifetime combination of talent, training and character. I'm in awe of them. Anyway, we played them better than anyone else, so we can give ourselves second place. They utterly destroyed every other team's offense, but not our's. We scored on them.

If you want to be the best, you have to play and beat the best. For a generation in WBB programs judged themselves by the bars set by Conradt, Barmore, Summitt and Tara. Now it is against Geno and to great extent the Sea Hag up the road. To know where we were when we parted company as friends with GG, to an ELITE EIGHT, has me very pleased. Most likely making the next step to the Final Four will have as much to do with seeding and brackets as anything else. But we are in the fight. Everything appears to be being done the right way and kids are graduating. Give me a 30 win season and a 100% graduation rate and I can live without another big banner. But they don't HAVE to be mutually exclusive.

:hookem2:

Was anyone else struck by the look of the court for the final four? The brick pattern around the keys made me think of really bad linoleum from the 50s.

Syracuse unfortunately adding fuel to the "There's no parity and UConn doesn't have any real competition" argument by playing pretty awful in several ways that didn't have much to do with Connecticut. They did not look like a top 25 team much less a final four team.

Then why didn't they get there?

They got upset. Their own fault, obviously. But UConn's road definitely got easier when Baylor and Notre Dame got knocked out earlier. Those are the breaks. Golden State had some help last year when the Spurs and Clippers essentially knocked each other out in the first round thanks to quirky seeding rules. Happens in every sport every few years, really.

McCarty, Higgs, Atkins (53 pts)

Which is already more than any other entire team managed to score.

McCarty, Higgs, Atkins (53 pts)

Stewart, Jefferson, Tuck (54 pts)

:bow::bow::bow::bevo:

Exactly!
Let Joyner, Jada, Alecia, and the twins come in and mesh with those three Hosey and Lang.... we'll be a VERY tough out! I'm ready for next season already!
