My wife & I have an anniversary coming up, and would like to get away for a night or two. Can anyone recommend a really nice Bed and Breakfast within 100 miles or so of Austin?

it ain't cheap, but the best is Inn Above Onion Creek. Its in Kyle. They serve breakfast and dinner, so no need to leave the premises. Nice pool, walking trails, cool garden, dvd players in rooms, etc. check out their website, it is really great.

My wife and I always take a bunch of wine and just get hammered while eating dinner, pretty fun.

Thanks. I called Inn Above Onion Creek, and it's a two-night stay minimum, so I'll have to see if we can work that out with a babysitter.

Becker Vineyards' B&B hasn't called me back yet.

Any recs out near Marble Falls or Llano?

I've been to Blair House a couple of times. It is more of the cottage type place. I liked it and it is in Wimberely by the Glass Works place, which is a cool thing to go watch.

Let me get back to Inn Above onion Creek. It ain't some little cottage.

They have 2 buildings with rooms. And the rooms are fabulous. Huge bathrooms and some have double showers, whirlpool tubs, etc. Super nice beds, many with fireplaces, top shelf linens, etc. great breakfasts and they use their own garden in preparation of dinner.

One of the buildings at the Inn has huge porches, if you get a 2nd floor room, you can sit out on this massive wrap around porch and stare out of 100's of acres of Hill country. Sitting there, visiting with your wife, sipping a beverage, it is a fine relaxing event.

You can also take a walk down to Onion Creek, it should be flowing since we've had a wet summer. About a 1.5 mile walk, really cool little creek. If you want to get out, Wimberely ain't far, neither is the Salt Lick and even Becker Winery is a nice drive. I've done all those things on various trips.

Most B&Bs have 2 night minimums on the weekend. You need to book Sunday-Thurs for 1 night only usually.

Rose Hill Manor in Stonewall is a great place. The food has always been excellent and the owners are some of my favorite B&B hosts. Hmm....I think I'll book for our anniversary now that you've mentioned it.

Also look into Gruene Mansion and check who is playing at Gruene Hall. Salado also has a smattering of B&Bs and I've never been disappointed by a meal at The Range there.

Look into the Chuckwagon Inn in Fredericksburg. I've never stayed there but I know the owner, Sam Higgins. He's a heck of a nice guy and an even better cook. I'm sure he and his wife run an allsome place.
