I haven't heard anything about him lately and was wondering what is his status in the league right now?

waiting on someone to get hurt...i figured he might have a shot in Denver after their 2nd RB got hurt....back to splitting carries with Selvin!

Bucky interviewed him the other day. He is pretty much just waiting for a phone call. He is pretty confident he'll be playing this season... he just doesn't know where yet. Running backs get hurt all the time... and from what I understand, it isn't too difficult for a RB to get used to a new scheme.

I would guess he's going to have a really hard time getting picked up.

He has done nothing productive in the NFL thus far, and he wasn't a hit with the team in Chicago. Add in all his off the field troubles, and he really isn't too valuable right now. I hope he gets picked up, but those are the facts.

Haven't heard anything about him lately. I'm sure that once someone gets hurt in camp or a preseason that they'll give him a shot. Too much talent not to be on a roster somewhere.

he'll be playing sometime this season. With his name, school affiliation, age, and given what # he was drafted, someone will give him a shot this year. He wasn't a complete bust at Chicago....

School affiliation? What does that have to do with getting picked up in the NFL, he is not a rookie anymore? They didn't pick up Priest cause he went to Texas? Take off your glasses. He will be picked up because there is a ton of potential and the reward outweighs the risk.

i think his being a bust is overblown. in his first two year he showed flashes, and obviously the bears agreed or they would not have dealt jones. last year he was marginal but playing on a team with a non existent pass attack.
if pacman jones can play for the cowboys with his off the field escapades, ced will get on somewhere.

Pac Man is far more talented and proven in the NFL than Cedric. I do agree someone will pick him up for the minimum at some point this year, though.

the comparison to pacman was intended more to mean that his off the field troubles shouldn't be an issue being that cedric was considered good enough to be the featured back for a super bowl team. considered good enough that his team would deal a pro bowler to clear room for him. i'd say based on that, he's as attractive as pacman - all things considered.

Pacman is a fair comparison because Pacman was nothing more than an average CB, but a GREAT returner while with the Titans. It is a myth that he is a top notch DB.

Now, he could become that and has the talent, but he was nothing close to great in Tennessee.

Any team interested will likely wait until after the first game so they don't have to guarantee the whole season's salary if they wanted to release him... I cannot imagine that some team won't at least consider him as a backup.I could see the Giants interested, Brandon Jacobs is still unproven. Considering how often Gore is hurt, I imagine that SF would like some decent insurance. Hell, GB still needs some help at RB. There are a TON of teams that have decent starters, but lack depth.. that is where Benson will have to go and wait for his shot.

Keith Bulluck was very productive, he did make a lot of tackles, but Pac Man made the big, game-changing plays that changed the season. When I say the "VY of the D" you seem to be thinking VY 2005 while I'm talking VY 2006. I know that must have been hard to figure out since we were talking about the 2006 season when they were teammates. While Vince didn't have Pro-Bowl stats in 2006, he made the Pro Bowl because of all the big plays he made in big games. Pac Man averaged over 32 yards per int. return, and that's a shitload of field position for a team that didn't have a great offense.

I'd like to see him wear a Cowboy star on his helmet, or take hand-offs and short passes from VY.

After Ahman Green gets hurt in the first or second game, it wouldn't surprise me to see Benson with a Texans-bull-flag thing on his helmet.
