Caucuses are a JOKE!

I was reading in the New York Times today on the Op-Ed page that there was a correction from Thursday's column. In reply to:

While I agree with you, devil's advocate could say that a caucus system allows the most involved members of a party as the ones who get to select their nominee. Why is that a bad thing?

you can just as easily argue that the general election in November is difficult for the working class because its on a Tuesday instead of a weekend.

but selecting a nominee isn't the right to vote. That's the general election. A party could decide on a nominee in any method they want. Flip a coin, arm wrestle, etc.

Yes I understand that it is the brain damaged Democrats in charge of the party that have allowed for this process to evolve this way. They must have come up with the idea after doing this

for years on end.

I'm not blaming the country. I'm saying MAINLY that "Caucuses are an F'ing JOKE!!" (Which I guess leads me to bashing the moronic Democratic party for allowing these things to take place. I personally don't care how the Republicans select their candidate.)

Closed primaries are denying the right to vote for people not registered for that party. And they're not illegal

If a political party bars legit voters from registration and participation in their closed primary then their nominee is not eligible for the general election. A party can dictate a closed process but it cannot deny access to that process if it wishes to be on the final ballot.

But nevertheless, it is a true statement that it takes some desire and motivation to be involved in the caucuses. It's hard enough to get people to vote; and a much smaller subset will participate in the caucus. In Texas I'm pretty sure that each precinct is assigned it's number of delegates to the Senatorial convention. And that precinct's representation will depend on who shows up at the caucus - has nothing to do with the votes cast that day.

Hook'em!!!

Newsflash guys.... not only has Obama dominated HRC in caucus states, he's also won more victories in PRIMARY STATES AS WELL!

Chew on that!

The insistence that Obama is a one-trick caucus pony is ridiculous. He's beating HRC in caucuses, he's beating her in primaries. He's beating her in the east, he's beating her in the west, he's beating her in the south, and everywhere in between.

Johnny M- you are completely forgetting (or glossing over) the fact that not only was the senate set up equal, but it was not set up to be elected by the people (this just further your point, not detracting from it).
