Cat piss smell

I need to know what can I put on carpet to remove the smell. I had a professional carpet cleaning service come out to the house yesterday and the stains are gone but the smell is still there, not as badm but you can still smell it. What can I use?

Pet stores carry enzme clean-up products, there are different brands, for this purpose. You just pour it on the area and let it soak in, and it will kill the odor if you get all the affected area soaked. The problem is, the pad under the carpet got some damage, and you may not get all the area soaked with the product the first time. You may have to try a couple of times, or may even have to pull the carpet back to see the exact spot.
This stuff does work, though.

Febreze also makes a pet odor eliminator that works pretty well. I use one of the plug-ins that is marked for pet smells near the litterbox for our cats. No smell unless it's past due time to clean out the box. They also have a spray. The plug-in may be an option to help with the smell while the other methods soak into the rug and pad.

You're ******.

Get new carpet and pads and don't forget to steam clean the foundation or replace the plywood flooring if it is on the second level.

My girl found something on the internet, think it's call 10x or something like that. Comes in concentrate smell, and we haven't ordered it just yet, but it has 225 or so reviews and has a 5 star (guess out of a 5 star system) rating. She just found it last night, so I haven't had time to investigate further.

Do not use the apple cider vinegar approach the greens on the internet pimp. That smell doesn't go away quickly either.

One way would be to get the leaves of the mexican bush sage (S. Leucantha) and rub them on your carpet to cover the smell.
The downside is that they also smell like cat piss.

The enzyme stuff works, and pet shops sell it by the gallon. If it's soaked through to the floor, I'd saturate the carpet and pad thoroughly and then extract it with a wet vac or carpet cleaner after it's had time to do its job--5 or 10 minutes. If there's still a smell, you've probably missed a spot.

This is why I will never allow Sangre Naranjada to enter my house.

I use the Febreze product and it works fine, although sometimes it requires a second application.

Also, time has a way of working it out.

In the early 90's, I worked as a general contractor, doing exclusively foreclosure work.

We once worked a condo in San Diego that was so soaked with cat piss that we had to remove the baseboards and demo the drywall 2 feet up from the floor. The piss had soaked the drywall and wicked up the wall.

We steam cleaned the concrete floor, and treated the wall studs with the enzyme stuff.

******* disgusting. even my illegal alien employees were grossed out.

Nature's Miracle works really well.

You can get it at any pet store.

It will take a few treatments, but it works.

Awwww, come on Texanne. I like OTHER people's cats just fine. They are welcome to deal with the problems cat ownership brings, and I'll pet and play nice with the cats while I'm visiting.

I just won't ever own an indoor feline myself.

It's mostly male cats, I've never had a problem with a female cat, but the bastard we have now may not make it to a house I actually buy.

Bluto the cat has never failed to use the cat box in the garage, over a period of 10 years or so. Earl the new outside cat comes in sometimes and also has never failed to use the cat boxes in the garage.
Some cats have attitude problems, or get a physical problem which leads to these "accidents."
You must treat the area with the enzyme product, which will remove the odor not only to your satisfaction if properly used, but also where the offending feline will not still detect the odor and see that spot as a place to continue using, especially if there is more than one of the furry fruitcakes.
The product pictured a couple of posts above, Nature's something or another, works well.
This stuff also works on dog accidents, kid accidents, drunk roommate accidents, etc.
If the spot is on a carpet, upholstery, furniture, whatever, you may have to soak it so the underlying pad, stuffing, foam, whatever gets soaked. This can either stain the item, or make it hard to dry out properly, and you may have to throw out the item. Otherwise, it will work completely.

I will try Natures Miracle but since the closet is about 5 x 8, I am thinking about replacing the pad and carpet.

as someone said earlier, you're ******. That crap you buy at the pet stores (there's a ton of brands) won't work for the deep, heavy cat piss.

I had a female cat piss on my couch and in my kitchen cabinet and I was able to get it out with this solution I found looking around online. If I remember, I'll let you know but it involves the following:

baking soda
vinegar

and some other things, I think but I'll try to remember. It did wonders after trying a bunch of pet store stuff that didn't work.

I also suggest the enzyme stuff from PetSmart or a similar place. Make sure it says ENZYME on it. It really does work. One of my cats had, um, issues earlier this year and this stuff got rid of the smell. Want proof? Even the cat hasn't gone in the same spot again so even she can't smell it.

My parents picked up a stray cat and kept it because they couldn't find a home. They put it in my old bedroom. The cat pissed on everything in their. Like the other poster said, if its really set in, there's almost nothing that will get it out. They had to remove the carpet, pad and then treat the concrete base with some solution to fix the problem.

There is a solution out there that is made up of peroxide, baking soda and hand soap that supposedly kills it.

My dad is dealing with a lot of it at my grandma's old house (crazy cat lady) and he swears by it.

I'm sure you can find it with some google hunting.
