Casa Garcia's

what a god awful meal that was.

their nachos were garbage. the fajita meat on them was very bland. I got some marinated (allegedly) pork plate. it wasn't al pastor, but something else. anyhow, the unremarkable gray flavorless meat was easily some of the worst food I've ever had.

in all seriousness, I'd eat el chico, TC, or even taco bell before garcia's.

I'd sworn that the place had gotten good marks on this site.

The one on Wm Cannon and Manchaca used to be good. Now it isn't.

I love the Casa Garcia on South Lamar, in the same parking lot as Alamo Draft House. The language barrier for gringos like me is very real, but when they prepare what you order, then it can be better than "very good".

isn't that place a chain a la El Chico? Why go there when there are 437 better local joints within 5 miles?

Only if you consider a whopping 3 restaurants, S Lamar, Manchaca, and Pflugerville, a chain.

love the wiseass response. typical coming from you though.

1 location or 100, that place is very bad.

You're welcome. "typical"?

"No" would have been a boringly short response. 3 is a chain, just not the kind you had in mind. I can't comment on the food; I've never been there.

"whopping" is wiseass.

And, yes, typical of you. Years of reading your posts. Be nice. It's easy.

I have no problem with Casa G's. I usually order the cheese enchiladas lunch special, and it's been good every single time I order it.

I'll offer that maybe the Chef or food manager or whatever moved from Casa Garcia's down to the Texican.

We eat at the Texican occasionally because it's close and there's usually no wait. Not because it's particulary good. This weekend, it was good. Damn good. Something changed.
