Carpenter Ants

I'm probably not alone in seeing carpenter ants running up and down the siding of my house in the back.

How much damage can these things do? Can I self-treat them?

sprinkle some of this stuff around where you see them. It's mainly for Fire Ants but I've used it effectively for Carpenter and other ants.

Yes, puff some of that Orthene on the carpenter ant trails and they'll all die in a day.

How big are these ants? Carpenter ants are 1/2 to an inch longer and black and red. The smaller red and black ants are often Acrobat ants. They raise their butts in the air as they run along if you disturb them.

Carpenter ants are hard to get rid of. Carpenter ant gel is the best thing I've found. A Pyrethrin spray (such as Sniper) is good enough to kill Acrobat ants.
