I was at that game on Jan 5, 2004. My daughter was attending law school in RI and her then boyfriend (a U Conn grad) got us tickets fully expecting a Texas loss. The game and final ending was great but terrible, the time went on forever for the officials to call it. Our declared victory resulted in the worst reaction by the fans I’ve ever seen. They were pouring drinks and throwing things at our players as they exited the floor. I was honestly glad I had a jacket on over my Texas shirt when we left and not only because it was cold outside.
