Car Insurance Question

I got wrecked about a week ago and am in the process of getting my car fixed. The adjustor that the other guys insurance company sent out gave me an estimate that was $2K less than the estimate I got at AMM.

If I go ahead and take it to AMM, is the other guys insurance obligated to pay the bill, or will they try to make me pay for the difference since I didn't take it to their recommended place?

Also, how do I go about making them pay for a rental car?

Thanks in advance.

What's AMM? The insurance company will give you a check and say there are places that will fix it for that amount, and you will have the a bigger battle than Troy versus the Mongol hordes to get another cent out of them.

well, they (the ins company) should give you more than one place to choose from. it's hard to beat their estimates though.

Take it to some reputable places (dealers, service king, etc.) to get your estimate.

Give the written estimate to the shop and have them review it before they start anything. Usually they will go by it.
You have a choice to take your car anywhere you want. It doesn't mean that the insurance companies will pay for you to go to some of those places, but it is YOUR choice.
I'm an adjsuter so feel free to ask any questions. I'll help you out.

Their offer is negotiable. Don't agree to settle until you're sure it's sufficient to repair your car. They cannot tell you where to go for repairs.

The other driver's insurance covers loss of use, so just tell the adjuster where you're getting a rent car. They must pay the going rate, cannot limit your rental to a set $ amount, and cannot limit how long you can keep the rental as long as you return it when your car is ready.

If you have a fairly new car, demand compensation for diminished value. Your repaired wrecked car is not worth as much as it was pre-loss. Tx Supreme Court said third party insurance covers it.
