Car Audio install

Ok, so I haven't done this since high school when I had my 2 12"'s, etc. I have a new car and want better sound. I just got back from custom sounds and he suggested the 4 speakers in my car were good speakers, and to start out with an amplifier. I don't want to shake the whold neiborhood anymore. I just want crisp sound and tight bass. Only problem is they wanted 350 for the amplifier and 250 for the install.

So I've seen pretty good amplifiers on the net for 200 and I think I will try installing it myself.

Does anyone know where to get wires for cheap in austin?
Should I replace all of my factory speaker wire, or leave it?
While I have it taken apart I've heard fatmat is good. Anywhere I can get that in Austin for cheap?

$250 for install is crazy, but I wouldn't touch the dash of a new car myself. I guess it depends if you have a Geo or a Lexus, but the way they pack it in behind the dash and the risk of a rattle in my pimp ride is enough for me to leave it to the pros.

Crutchfield ain't cheap, but they are the ones to go to for the wire harness and instructions, imo.
