Car Amplifier

I just replaced the blown speakers in my car, had one of those premium Infinity sound systems with the 8 speakers, never was all that impressed. The factory amp is made for 2 ohm speakers, the new ones are 4 ohms. I took out all 8 speakers (6 of the 8 were component) and replaced with 4 full range speakers.

I'd like to replace the amp, but its been many years since I've upgraded a car sound system. I'd like to find an amp that's not too expensive (I don't listen that loud anymore and I don't need top of the line), 4 channels with about 50 watts per channel RMS.

Any suggestions?

I've had 5 amps (car was broken into twice so that is where two of them went), 1 Kicker, 1 JBL, 1 Infinity, and 2 Pioneer Premier amps. I also have done a few system installs for friends. Unless you are really looking for to do something big, you probably will not notice a big difference between name brand amps. I am using a Kicker 1200 right now, but for the money and quality, I always tell people to go with the Pioneer amps. They usually put out much more than they are rated at and are very well made. Of all the different types of car audio stuff I have owned (again thank you car stereo theifs), I have been most happy overall with Pioneer stuff. The new multichannel amps they have aren't very attractive, but you don't usually have those out in view anyway. Pioneer is the way I would go if you wanted to keep cost down and still have a high quality amp. Hopefully I won't have to replace my stuff again, but if I do, I am going back to all Pioneer stuff.

I have a 4X40 Alpine sitting in my garage that I just took out of a car I'm selling. Sounds great. Install and de-install was professionally done ny Circuit City. No scratches or anything. It's about 18 months old.

PM me if you are interested.
