Can't install XP Service Pack 2

My computer is telling me I need to install this but when I try, system works on it for about 20 minutes, then I get a message saying it "cannot install it", so it undoes everything it did. Suggestions?

Also, I have somehow lost the shortcut for my Lexmark scanner/printer and can't get it to work either.

download the product seperately from the windows update page. CNet'sThe Link should have it or you can try going to microsoft.com and downloading it. The download will be a little larger, but will run outside of windows update. I had to do this on one computer that was giving me the same sort of trouble.

Make sure your username has admin privaledges.
