Good bye Rangers; hello off-season.

i'm not banking on it. we might not make playoffs (jim mora) but we are still good. if anyone actually thought we could sustain this play with the pitching we have was living in bizzaro world. we are still a good ballclub and i still want to watch the young pitchers. i know what we've got on offense.

Horn69, I never figured you for such a fairweather fan. The Rangers won't make the post-season this year, but they are still a whole lot of fun to watch.

I, for one, haven't given up on them, because they can still make things uncomfortable for some other teams. And that's pretty fun, too.

Sorry Texanne. The pain of a 4-game losing streak and watching our offense go completely quiet, plus a few cocktails

, caused my negativity. Today's game will help me get back up on the horse.

i really do think murphy going out hurt momentum badly. i dont know if it was just my personal take on it, but it seemed like the team just lost their minds since.

If the Rangers can stay over .500 it will be a wildly successful year, with much to build on during the offseason. This has been an entertaining and hope-building season.

2-2 with the Yanks ain't bad, but this series with the O's has been a disaster. This fade is very disappointing for sure, but it has been a succesful season based on how the team started in a hole with injuries, issues and pitching woes that have come along the way. Wild-card expectations were probably too much to seriously hope for. My wish is the good guys get back their mojo & focusness while winning series again and building toward next season.

To my fellow Ranger zealots:

Remember, this season was never about "contending," it was always about "developing." Recalling the original expectations when this team left Spring training, it was generally accepted that it would be a terrific season if the Rangers (a) finish within a game or two of .500, (b) develop the young players, and (c) don't make any dumb trading-deadline deals to part with prospects for rent-a-players. Guess what - they've exceeded expectations! The injuries have been tough, but injuries happen to every team in varying degrees. Millwood hasn't been healthy, Brandon McCarthy hasn't pitched yet. And even then, with minor-league-call-up pitchers doing far more than they should, this team is in contention for the wild card. Folks, this glass is definitely half-full.

If they fade from the wild card race (or to be precise, if they run out of time because they can't mount a 12-of-15 winning streak to overtake the teams ahead of them), they are still fun to follow. And the nucleus of a contending team is definitely in place. Watch the winter deals - I'll bet one or two of the catchers are traded for major-league-ready starting pitchers.

As they used to say in Brooklyn, "Wait til next year!"

damn it all why didn't we trade bradley in early July? save the ******** about clubhouse guy and washington's son and whatever else.

I'm not gonna lie, there is just something funny watching the rangers get 10 hung on them in the first, then decide to claw back in it. I enjoy watching this although I had to look away the first 20 minutes. It never ceases to amaze/crack me up the absolute lack of pitching this club has consistently every year. As I type this Youkilis hits a homer to center.

Can you say 36 runs in 18 innings in Boston? At this rate we'll have the alltime worst ERA record wrapped up by Sept 1.

Finally some good news...Millwood has actually picked a great time to have two great outings (consecutively?). He (as well as Padilla) has cleared waivers. I would think he would be of interest to contending teams needing pitching. Here's hoping.

Don't look now, but with tonights 3-2 win, the lately struggling stRangers swept lowly KC (yes I know they are awful). I am greatful for any wins and that college football starts Thursday night

According to TAG, that was the first Ranger sweep ever at Kaufman Stadium. Very nice outing by Matt Harrison. I think he's going to be a keeper.

i like m harrison. when he is off, he misses on his inside fastball. so many young pitchers are sometimes timid about throwing inside, especially lefties to RH hitters. when he's willing to pump that fastball high and tight he's really good.

i think he's more than earned a leg up on the competition next year. he's guaranteed nothing, but i think he's got a leg up.

Didn't see the game tonight - they were about 7th on my TV Priority List - but from the looks of the boxscore Jamie Wright and Warner Madrigal can go **** themselves!
