I'm a ******* moron when it comes to this stuff, but I somehow managed to copy about 3000 songs from my PC to my Nomad and back to another PC. I wish I knew how I did it.
Now, if I could only get Musicmatch to tell my Nomad what my playlists are I would be having a Zen experience.
There's no restrictions on Nomad, so you can transfer back and forth as often as you want (a key reason why I bought the 30 GB model).
There are players with restrictions (usually more a function of the software you use though; i.e iTunes or whatever for iPod).
Not a big fan of MusicMatch for this stuff; didn't your Nomad come with proprietary software? For $10 there's a third party software called Notmad Explorer.
It came with the software, but I have been using Musicmatch to burn my cd's/mp3 discs and have all kinds of playlists that I would rather not recreate.
If it's an Ipod you can't unless you put it into extra drive mode. Then it treats it like a removeable hard drive and you can trasfer any files. However, all the songs currently on it won't be downloadable. You'll have to recopy them onto it in drive mode.
Notmad Explorer. It's a website with a lot of info and message boards, and they also created and sell this because the Creative software is so poor. I'm running out the door, but see if you can Google it. It's probably the only way you can transport playlists; if you just want to drag the songs (no playlists) there are other ways.
E-mail the guy at Red Chair with any questions; he's pretty helpful and will respond. You want to get the edition that matches your player (although there is one for all Creative players) and confirm that it will do the playlist transfers you want.
