Can the iPad do this?

- Print documents, pictures, web pages, etc. directly from the device? The printers in question would be an HP inkjet which is currently connected to a computer via USB, and a Sharp color copier connected to the network.

- Access a Windows network share?

Thanks in advance.

- Sort of. HP has a free app that will print pictures and webpages that you've saved as pictures. Air Sharing HD (the iPad version) will print pretty much anything, but it costs $9.99. With ASHD, you have to add the document/picture/web page/etc. to ASHD, then you can print it from there.

- Sort of. FileBrowser works like Mac Finder or Windows Explorer. It's $2.99.

IIRC, Jobs promised native printing support in the next iOS release for iPad, 4.x.x. It's an obvious shortcoming right now, so it can't be too far off.

GoodReader is a really nice file-system-like app, with links into Dropbox and Google Docs, among others. I don't know about printing from it but thought it worth a mention with the others.

Is there anything an IPad can do that a MacBook can't do anyway? Just wondering whether there is any advantage whatsoever, other than being a little smaller. It's not like laptops are very big and heavy anymore, anyway.
