Can someone ask Nate Newton for a favor?

I'm not talking about a hookup.

Jackson Jeffcoat is the son of former NFL player Jim Jeffcoat. Jim played for the Cowboys from '83-94 and lives in Plano.

Nate Newton played for the Cowboy from '86-98 and lives in the Dallas area. Obviously Nate and Jim were teammates. Since Nate's son 'Tre is a horn, anyway we could get Nate to place a visit to his old teammate?

The #1 DE would be great for our recruiting class....

Maybe Nate could re-open the White House for a little meeting with Jeffcoat....and some other people just might happen to swing by.

Same situation last year with Devon Kennard. His pops Derrick Kennard played several years at center for the Boys right next to Nate on the OLine, but that didn't work out for us so much. Difference is, Devon wasn't a Texas boy and Jackson is. Maybe he's a little more fond of the Horns than Devon was. We'lll see!!!

No way that would be a violation. Since they were teammates, they were at the very least acquaintances before either of their kids were even strapping up the pads for pee wee games. Considering they were teammates for the better part of the decade, they more than likely know each other pretty well and have talked many times since their time as teammates ended. It's not like Brian Orakpo randomly calling up Jeffcoat and telling him to go to Texas.

A not really related but still relevant story here is how Harrison Barnes (#1 basketball recruit) plays on the same HS team and is best friends with Iowa State Coach Greg McDermott's son, so even during dead and quiet periods Greg could watch and talk to Harrison as long as it was not anything out of the ordinary for a regular father to do. Hopefully any talks between Newton and Jeffcoat will work out better for Texas than McDermott and Barnes' relationship did for ISU.

I'm going to guess that if Jim Jeffcoat really wanted to force his son to one school or another... it would probably be to Houston

You know, where he is the DL coach

I didn't think we were actually saying that someone would have to tell Nate Newton to do this. I would assume that this has probably crossed his mind without any prodding from people inside the Texas program.
