Can I vote in both primaries?

I have never voted in the primary before. I vote every 1-2 years. Never in a primary though. Can I vote in both Rep. and Dem. primaries? I am generally a democrat but not sure I really am crazy about Obama. Seems to be more image at this point than what he has done (ask Kirk Watson). Regardless I don't want this to be a debate on the candidates but am wondering if I can vote in both......

No, you can only vote in one or the other. Don't forget to return to your precinct at 7:15 PM on March 4th to caucus for your candidate if you decide to vote Democratic. If you vote Republican, it's just a primary so only the one vote is necessary.

At the one I went to last, the first thing is a chairman and secretary are chosen. Usually not much debate about that. Then you divide into "camps". Any camp not getting some %, like 10% or 15% can disburse and go to a larger group. Since this is really down to 2 choices, basically they will count up the numbers in each camp. Say it is 60-40. Each precinct gets a certain number of delegates to the county convention. Say it is 10. then the Obama camp names 6 delegates to go to county and the Clinton camp 4 delegates. Internally, the "camps" have to decide who that want to go. Then the whole mess is ratified, and names are taken down and sent to the county. I have been in situations where there were fewer caucusers than delegates, so anyone willing to go could be a county delegate. That is the way they did it last time I attended, no promise you causcus will be the same.

As I am hearing the process (Democratic side), it is a sign up procedure. You walk in, the precinct chair should already be elected from the previous primary (it is an elective position on the ballot itself), you sign a roll for the candidate. If you want to go on to the country convention, you hang around and see if you can convince the majority of the attendees to send you. You might also hang around to make sure that no "monkey business" occurs (i.e. someone makes off with a couple of pages of the list for your preference). Basically it is kind of an American Idol process for determining what warm bodies go on to the county convention. Unless you want a shot at going to Denver this summer, no reason really to hang around.
