Camping Around Austin

Thinking of taking the lady camping for a night this weekend. Any suggestions around Austin (i.e. willing to drive 2 – 3 hours to get there if needed)? Not really interested in hiking. More looking for a place where each campsite is secluded and has a fire ring and a grill. Also want to be away from city lights so we can really check out the stars. Also be great if it was on a lake or some water.

Does this Shangri-La exist?

Pale Face Park is my favorite because you're at the top of high canyon bluffs that fall into the north end of Lake Travis. Check the LCRA website; I think it's a LCRA park. Take your rain ponchos.

I was just reminded that the official name is Pace Bend Park, and it's a Travis Co. Park. Another good choice is Inks Lake.

We have a firepit and you can pitch your tent in our backyard for $5 a day if you want. Walking distance to Lake Austin, Hula Hut and a dog to take with you if you want.
