Anyone been or does anyone have kids who attended or know someone who attended? We're trying to get feedback/information other than what's on the website. Thanks in advance.

Camp Longhorn is a great place. My brother, sister and numerous close friends went there for many years. Now a ton of people I know have kids that go there and love it. I know some kids that are the 3rd generation of their family to attend.

I have been back down there several times in recent years with friends picking up their kids and I can attest that it is still an outstanding summer camp. The facilities may not be as fancy as some places, but the lake (or ranch) settings are awesome and the activities run the spectrum. There is also strong sense of tradition and the Robertson family has been running this place for a very long time.

I don't expect you will hear much, if anything, negative about Longhorn.

if you can get your kids in, send them

i went 1st term back in the 80s and early 90s. fantastic place.

I have done work in the areas W / WS of Burnet & spotted a couple of "Camp Longhorn" locations (on both sides of the river)... can anyone educate me on what they offer? Or should I merely look 'em up on the web?

When I lived in Florida, I attended a YMCA camp, Florida Game & Freshwater Fisheries camp & Florida Department of Forestry camp.

By far, the one I learned the most @ & enjoyed the most was the forestry camp. Everything from how to spot & if you missed it how to treat poison ivy, tree ring coring for age, etc. The other two had the traditional "archery, swimming, crappy leather crafts..."
