California Fois Gras ban goes into effect

Foie Gras is delicious. On a hamburger, it's heavenly. But I swore it off, along with veal, two years ago after learning how they produce it. I think it's way too rough on the animal.

Yes, I have to admit that I would feel conflicted about how those animals are treated. I think most folks would.

It's getting to the point that I am conflicted, about eating any animals. (I still do though) Do I pick the fish from an over-fished Ocean, or farm-raised all packed in with tons of fish doo, I have seen a couple of "how cows/pigs" are killed, and the conditions are terrible.

I quit eating veal and foie gras years ago....and just noticed at Central Market they are selling beef that is guaranteed raised in an approved environment that is as animal-friendly as a slaughter house can be. I don't eat much beef, but I did eat some of that type just tonight. It cost a bit more, but it is a price I am willing to pay.

Fish, still befuddled.

I am getting to that point too. I will pay more but am trying to ween myself off of eating it as much as before.

i am going to sear some this weekend.

the best fois gras in the world however (I just read this) comes from dudes in spain that dont force feed.

Respect those that forego eating it for their own principles sake, but bannning it? Absurd.

free range fois gras

Meat production of just about anything is unsettling, having raised money for a pork pruducer and seen the whole thing, well, it's never nice.

These are food sources being raised for consumption, I love veal and fois gras and will keep eating it. Yum Yum.

I pretty much only eat meat. I've never liked liver or anything made from the internal organs of animals. However, the practice of making this stuff is pretty barbaric.

Having said that, this is one of these, "don't you have anything better to do?' moments for the State of California. They have huge budgetary problems in that state. However, I almost never hear about their Legislature doing anything that doesn't serve the agenda of some element of the "kook wing" of the Democratic Party. Basically, if it doesn't have anything to do with promoting the environment, animal rights, gays, or illegal aliens, they don't touch it.

I don't feel conflicted at all.

God gave man dominion over the animals.

To be against foie gras is to be against God.

There is a place for all God's creatures.

Next to the mashed potatoes.

Seriously, I don't really care to go down that road, but unfortunately there are problems with just about every food source available commercially.

I hadn't heard that one, Shiner.. I lol'd

bedhead, it's ok to eat fish, because they don't have any feelings. Did you not learn anything from Cobain and the Grunge era?
