Unintended but welcome surprise. With California gone, the US would be heavily red and the GOP would carry the next two decades. Especially, if we can get all the ultra-liberals from New York that talking about moving to New Zealand out of the picture at the same time.
While they do have a sizable economy, there is very little in the way of goods and services that could not quickly be replicated by another state.
