CAIR leads an Islamic response to 'ISIS'

The English talking points description of this is pretty good and I am assuming the Arabic version is the same unlike what Arafat used to do and not have it be the same. Not sure if this will have any effect but it should be covered widely from what I am reading.

CAIR isn't always honest with their assessments generally always slanting heavy towards Islam as victim. In this case they are attempting to not let ISIS coopt their religion which is good. They use careful wording in these bullet points.
 
Internationally, Muslims are distancing themselves from ISIS. In fact there was a huge anti-ISIS protest in Frankfurt a few days ago that was organized by several mosques. I think the videos of the decapitations really makes it hard for anyone to publicly support them.
 
Words are cheap especially words from "peaceful"muslims

Where were these learned peaceful muslims when vids surfaced years ago of women being stoned?
I don't remember an outcry or protests from the peaceful muslims then.

If as so many like to say the islamists are just a tiny fraction of the total Why don't the peaceful muslims act?

They never act, they haven't for over 2 decades and they won't now except to send money to radical groups and then pretend to be peaceful by issuing meaningless fatwahs or words of condemnation.

Now IF CAIR calls for muslims to unite and defeat radicals that would show the rest of us they are serious.
 
What are peaceful muslims in the west supposed to do? Get on a plane and go buy some black market guns and start shooting? Peaceful muslims in the ME have paid a larger price than any of us so Ill reserve judgement.

and the many peaceful muslims who have been killed by the radicals should be a motivation for hundreds and hundreds of millions peaceful muslims.

The radicals don't have a problem.

just talking means nothing, it seems an attempt to appease non muslims into thinking there really are peaceful muslims who do not follow the Koran.
 
I'd like to see ridicule, ostracize, isolation, and other minimizing techniques applied by the majority on their outliers and in no uncertain terms, continually. Emphasis on the ridicule part as well.

I hope sincerely that you are not equating abortion clinics being blown up with what the islamists are doing.
 
Ultimately the Muslim world is going to have to self police themselves if they want to rid themselves of their internal menace. I applaud what they started with this step listed in the OP.

They need to be more vigilant exposing the plots within their midst so they can be the peaceful loving Muslims they claim to be. Less talk about stoning their or other women. Less talk about no or reduced education for women. Less talk about not letting women drive. Etc, etc, etc.

Ultimately I think they won't be able to help themselves since their rules forbid them from calling out other Muslims. Therefore the only way it works is if they call out those that are doing things that are not, calling them Apostates.

You do realize that the Muslim world for several decades has been ravaged by dictators and Western corruption, from both the US and Great Britain. The people there havent exactly been free to live as they please without foreign manipulation.

If it was a level playing field, I might give some of what youre saying credit, but its laughable to criticize Muslims under the political manipulation they have suffered under. And to act like CAIR and other groups never speak out against terrorism or other horrible actions is naive or just willfully ignorant.
 
The executive summary is excellent. One of the biggest problems Evangelicals and other detractors of Islam have is the blatant cut and paste mentality of individual verses. Taking everything out of context just doesnt work.

Also, Arabic is such a diverse and deep language, there are words that cannot be translated into English. There just arent any equivalents, so translation and interpretation is not always easy.

Reading the Quran in context and understanding entire surahs, not snippets here and there, is extremely important. Unfortunately, terrorists are just as bad as the average American in interpreting Islam.

And you actually think muslim nations would respect human life, like women and even gays?
do you think foreign influence is why they stone women , even those who were raped? How about when they kills gays? is that because of foreign influence?
Do you think they prevent females from getting an education because of foreign influence.
would you want to be a gay or a female in any muslim nation now?
 
You know, you speak about Muslim countries in the present, under the conditions that I mentioned. I cannot tell you what things would be like in the alternate universe were things different.

Islam does not forbid women from getting an education or stoning women or anyone else unjustly. Again, there has been a lot of poor interpretation, i.e. ISIS et al. Muslim countries in many cases were doing just fine, and were developing on their own before Western backed dictators took control.

The point is, its not as cut and dry as you want to make it.

Are there many muslim nations ruled by muslims clerics and not a secular elected leader that does not treat women as second class or less citizens?
How about Gays?

The issue is why , if all the moderates( and there could be as many as a billion) hate what the islamists are doing to their religion whey don't they organize band together and stop them?
Picky any number you think is a reasonable amount of moderates. That number will be many many times the number of islamists.
 
You know, it would be nice if the US wasnt arming or funding these separate groups that have turned into ISIS. We funded the mujaheddin who became the Taliban, we've funded what became Al-Qaeda. How about instead of asking every Muslim country, that weve infultrated and shat upon, to do something about it, we dont contribute to the problem. Why dont we mind our own business and just let those people be. Of course, theres a huge mess there now, but it didnt have to be that way.

And Saudi Arabia isnt exactly helping, who is OUR ally. Lets not forget that btw.

Id like to know what you guys want Muslim countries to do exactly.
