Cactus Cafe Music Shows on LHN?

Last month I heard on KUT that a free Amy Cook show at Cactus Cafe on 2/25 was going to be recorded, and I thought I heard them say it would be shown on LHN.

Monday evening this week I saw Wood & Wire's final March residency show at Cactus, and they mentioned they would be back in late April to record a show...to be shown on LHN!

How good news/bad news can a bit of info be? If LHN is going to be showing music recorded at Cactus Cafe, I might just have to come down on the side of hoping no major cable outlets ever carry it! Imagine the whole city, state, country, whatever becomes aware of the total awesomeness of Cactus Cafe. Those of us who already know and love it could be shut out of ever enjoying a show there again, as the crowd sizes and difficulty of obtaining tix exponentially explode! As much as I love Longhorn sports, seeing the occasional game on cable (which I don't even have) is not at all worth loss of access to great shows at Cactus Cafe!!!

Color me seriously concerned!

The Cactus Cafe show is usually on for a half hour once a day (plenty of rerun opportunities). It usually shows clips of songs, but not entire sets like ACL would. Maybe they didn't get the copyright privileges or something.

Either way, it's pretty cool to see something that used to entertain me over a decade ago on national television (sort of).

I've seen a few of these shows (including Dale Watson) on LHN and it is cut up with short interviews and songs. Not complete sets as in ACL but in some ways similar. I doubt it creates a flock of out-of-staters trying to get into the Cafe to see local shows though.

It turns out Dale Watson has a daughter at UT...
